Debate is raging in the blogoshere over whether John Keys move to send troops to Afhanistan was the right move.
Bill Rolston on his blog on stuff says that Key made the right decision as committing more SAS troops is:
“the one thing, perhaps the only thing, the US Government has wanted from New Zealand in foreign affairs and defence terms in the last three years”
He goes on to say that had Phill Goff been in the position of power he would have likely made the same decision.
John Minto in his blog also on stuff puts forward the opposite view calling John Key’s decision a “day of shame” saying that we are supporting an illegal occupation and that :
“Our troops will be there to prop up a vicious regime of warlords and drug runners who have no legitimacy to run the country.”
